Marcus is an accomplished electric bass guitarist with over thirty years of experience. He is extremely versatile, with strong improvisational skills in all styles ranging from rock, jazz, pop, blues, roots rock and country.
In recent years Marcus has played in many local Los Angeles and New York City bands, as well as completing extensive session work. Some of the artists Marcus has collaborated with include: Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams,), Lionel Cole (Mariah Carey, Robert Downey Jr.), Michael Hakes (Edgar Winter), Otis Hayes (Ice-T), Irvin Kramer (Ray Charles), James Montgomery, Loretta Lynn, Olivea Watson (Gibson's 2007 New Artist of The Year; 2007 New Music Award: AC Breakthrough Artist of The Year), Tim Burlingame (Kathrin Shorr), Will Ray (Hellecasters), XJM Jazz Trio, David McKelvey, Shawn Nourse (Dwight Yoakum), Skip Edwards (Michelle Shocked), Chris Lawrence (The Paladins), Don Heffington (Bob Dylan), Carl Byron (Anne McCue), Percussionist George Martin (Earth, Wind and Fire), drummer Mike Bennett (Chick Chorea), Rebel Soul Band (Winner of Relix Magazine's 2004 Jam Off!), and The Williamstown Cabaret. He is a member of Musician's Local 47.
Marcus was a student of jazz master Todd Johnson and Jim Stinnett and the Stinnett Music School, an affiliate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
